Free Business Idea of the Week!

The other day I ran out of my once plentiful supply of Windex Crystal Rain™ – which has been denoted a green product (no ammonia). Desperate to clean house, I jumped online to see what I could whip up that would be comparable to this store-bought super cleaner. To my surprise, I stumbled upon a number of ‘recipes’ for all-natural, homemade cleaning products – from air fresheners to toilet bowl cleaners. That got me thinking, what a great business idea – literally something you could do from your kitchen! If you’re into the green scene, take a look at what you’d need to get started:
Approximate Start-Up Costs: $5,000 or under (initial inventory of supplies including packaging and labels, e-commerce enabled Web site, marketing and advertising)
Potential Names: Green Scene, People-Friendly Products, Cleen Green…
Barriers to Entry: Existing competition which includes many multi-national companies, creating awareness, adoption of green living, etc.
Note: Consider purchasing your start-up supplies on eBay and printing the labels on your home computer to save on the costs of a professional printer. Also, it is almost the time of year for holiday craft fairs. Try your luck at a few of these to start getting the word out about your products.

Crystal,
Your readers should calculate how much ink their computer printer uses per label. Some computer printers are not very cost effective. Color Ink can be excessively costly.
