Hot Business Idea
Dec 9th, 2007 by admin
Sitting here today, I realized something. I really don’t like cleaning out my 55-gallon fish tank. The Oscars are wonderful
fish, but what they leave behind is far from attractive. It’s not that I don’t take good care of them, because I’ll have you know they are the most spoiled fish on the entire planet. I just don’t have five hours to clean out their tank, and self-admittedly, this happens to be a chore I dread doing. I wonder if I could call someone and have them do it for me. Bingo! Your hot business idea of the week.
If you have a way with wet critters and experience cleaning aquariums, consider launching your very own aquarium service. With the possibility of tapping into both commercial and residential markets, this is a splashing opportunity!
Approximate Start-Up Costs: Under $2,000 (cost of cleaning supplies and an assortment of replacement parts, extractor and gravel cleaner, commercial-grade aquarium vacuum, business cards and other marketing materials)
Potential Names: Happy Fish Aquarium Cleaning, Squeaky Clean Aquarium Maintenance, Finatic Aquarium Cleaning
Barriers to Entry: For commercial accounts, limited hours when tanks can be cleaned, competing with the DIY approach (will require finesse in explaining the potential time savings), creating awareness and demand
